Fashion entrepreneur Suzy Reed was born on 20th February 1966 in Norfolk. Educated at Kent College near Tunbridge Wells, Kent. After leaving school she trained as a beautician and worked as a make-up artist in Norwich.
Suzy was twenty when she moved to London. A variety of work experiences complemented her make-up and modeling tasks over the next twenty years. Suzy had met David Redfern on one of those early photo assignments. When they met again unexpectedly years later, they developed a relationship, which Suzy says was a turning point in her life.
Some of David Redfern’s iconic images.
She had a new lifestyle with David, visiting major music festivals and trade fairs. Traveling the world on business and pleasure transformed and inspired Suzy to search for a new creative direction. After much angst and brainstorming a concept to combine David’s iconic music photographs with her flair and interest in fashion culminated in an initial idea for screen-printed T-shirts for jazz festivals.
The next stage was to create the label Suzy Reed Ltd, and to research and develop new ways of interpreting David’s iconic images on textiles. From Tees to cushion covers and silk scarves – and now vibrant-colored fabrics for dresses.
The West London Boutique that opened in December 2009 features a combination of David Redfern’s original prints (www.davidredfern.com) with Suzy’s products displayed on unique brass musical instruments.
The scope of this concept is endless and Suzy is constantly exploring new techniques and avenues to increase the range of items in her collection.
